Two Of Us is a song recorded by Louis Tomlinson for his forthcoming solo debut album. It was released as a single on 7 March 2019. The single will be his fourth solo release and his second with no features.
Lyrically, the song is about recovering from losing his mother, Johannah (Jay), in 2016.
Background
Days after it was announced Tomlinson would be transitioning from Epic Records to Arista Records, the promotional rollout for "Two Of Us" began. A series of mobile "hot spots" were placed around the world for fans to uncover using phones to play short clips of Louis being interviewed about his new music. For the Buenos Aires hotspot, the clip featured Louis talking about writing "Two Of Us": "I wasn’t ready to write this song, but I knew I needed to. There’s a lot of responsibility in writing a song like this. Actually, in my head, I wanted to be further into my career to write this...a massive song. [Before recording] I heard the first verse and the chorus. It just made so much sense to me. I had to get involved in the song, I think it’s really powerful, but I also don’t want people to get caught up in the sadness. I want it to be helpful. If it can help a person going through a shit time, that would be good.”
Reception
The song received a positive reception from critics, with most praising the highly personal lyrics and emotional vocal performance. On the charts, the song debuted in the iTunes top 5 of most countries and debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes chart

Music Video
The seven-minute music video sees Louis helping 83-year-old Richard achieve various items on his bucket list. The video ends with several prompts to donate to research-based charities, as Richard lost his wife to Alzheimer's around the same time Louis lost his mother to cancer.
